Pantry Setup Volunteer - FoodShare
The FoodShare Pantries have been established to help prevent food waste as well as to support those facing food insecurity.
The Foodshare Volunteers aged 18+ will support the upkeep and running of the Foodshare Pantry project. This role is specifically to assist with receiving deliveries and stocking the pantry, in preparation for the following day when the pantry is open.
Location: CF61, Llantwit Major, Vale of Glamorgan OR The Gathering Place, St Athan, Vale of Glamorgan (as agreed)
Suggested hours:
St Athan Pantry setup is Tuesdays, ready for Wednesday. Time to be confirmed.
Llantwit Major Pantry setup is Wednesdays, ready for Thursday. Deliveries come in around midday so volunteers would be required to start at 11am and finish around 1pm.
You will help to:
Take fridge and freezer temperatures at start and end of session
Wipe down and sanitize fridges, freezers and shelves before food is received into the pantry
Receive incoming deliveries
Sort food donations into categories and stack shelves according to the design of the pantry, ensuring any surplus ambient products are stored appropriately in the FoodShare store cupboard
Work to ensure food hygiene and environmental health standards are maintained
Volunteers will need:
Confidence and enthusiasm
Discretion and understanding of confidentiality of others
An eye for detail, taking pride the appearance and presentation of the pantry with an understanding of the logical layout of a shop
An understanding of the importance of preventing food waste
The ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
It would also be great if you are:
Keen to share volunteers ideas, learn and contribute to the development of the FoodShare project

Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: Full training is provided.
Selection procedure: Informal discussion, application form completion and 2 references.
