Do You Enjoy Meeting People, Organising Things?

Then why not join us at our newest FoodShare at St Athan?

A great place to meet people, help people and help to organise the pantry.

Your valuable input will help to support the upkeep and running of the FoodShare Pantry project.

You will help to:

  •  Sort food donations into categories and lay them out according to the design of the Pantry

  • Assist customers, answering queries to ensure that they are aware of what they can take for their shop and oversee the bagging section (checkout)

  • Manage the timeslot system, book customers in and take payment (cash and card), register new customers and manage the volume of customers in the pantry at any one time

  • Help clear away at the end of each session and sanitize all surfaces

  • Work to ensure food hygiene and environmental health standards are maintained

If you possess enthusiasm, discretion and understanding of confidentiality of others then come along and join us.

“The Foodshare Pantry helps to turn an environmental problem into a social solution. GVS purchase quality, in date, surplus food from Fareshare Cymru that would otherwise have gone to waste. In addition Foodshare collects end of day supermarket ‘waste’ to redistribute to those who need it most.”

Time commitment: St Athan Pantry is open to customers from 11.30am - 1pm every other Wednesday (1/5/24 then fortnightly).  Volunteers ideally need to be available from 1 hour before opening until 30 minutes after closing to help set up and clean down.
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Training: Full training is provided.
Selection procedures: An informal chat with the volunteer co-ordinator, application form completion and 2 references (2 people known to you for 2+ years, cannot be a family member).
